Assign: Updated Animated Logo

I updated my animated logo: Metro Tool Rental.  I changed a few things:

  • How the text changes after coming “out” of the lines
  • The direction of the second saw blade pass
  • The way the complete logo stops
  • and how the blade continously turns then fades out

Here is the link to the updated animated logo.

  1. There’s not much I can find wrong with this ad. It is very nicely executed. I like how you have the saw blade continuously running when it stops over the M in your logo. I like that the blade goes from side to side and the way the type comes out of either side of the cut the blade made.
There are two things I see that need improvement one is the colors. The colors primary red and primary green don’t really convey what your concept is about unless you are trying to sell Christmas related tools. I would try out some darker colors for the type to help the blade stand out more. Red is a strong color and I think it should remain that way by choosing a darker more muted color for the type. If you want to use green just try darkening it so that its not so Christmas-like.

The second thing is the timing of the words coming out of either side of the cut. I would speed them up a little bit but then once they are there hold them for a second or two before they fade out.

Overall I think you did a very good job with your banner ad.

  2. I think you got the saw rotation perfect. I agree with Jennifer, there is not much to not like about it. I would say the only thing that I don’s personally like is the e’s on the get ‘em I think its just because there is no space around the bowl of the e. I also would suggest pausing the type a bit longer before the fade out. But over all I think it is very nice. And sorry Im stupid I forgot these were supposed to be up by Friday, sorry.
